2015 Case Study Competition
Rules and Eligibility
Competition Eligibility
The competition is open to current undergraduate students in good standing at Simon Fraser University with a declared major or minor in Statistics or Actuarial Science. At least one member of the team must be a continuing student taking classes (or co-op) in the fall semester.
Students may form teams of up to 3 members and may request to be paired with a graduate student mentor.
The case study competition will culminate in a poster presentation taking place in mid-September at the Department of Statistics and Actuarial Science fall reception, with cash prizes for the top entries.
Competition Rules
Posters of the results will be presented by teams for judging at Department of Statistics and Actuarial Science fall reception. At least one team member must be present at the reception in order to be eligible for prizes. (We will work with teams to find a date and time.)
The data owners (Uken games) would like to see what you do with their data, so you will need to email a copy of your poster and code for Dr. Dave Campbell to pass along to them prior to the judging. Code sharing also ensures that analyses are reproducible, so it’s good statistical practice.
The use of a repository such as github is allowed, but public online repositories must not contain the dataset.
